Blog Improvement

Aim - To make my blog useable every day at school and at home

How I have done it

Since i have had the privelige of having 10 computers in my room, I thought it was nessassary to have an ICT lead program. Why? Because the amount of worthwhile activities found on the net is outstanding. Not only does it beat worksheets hands down! But it reduces paper and the kids love interacting with the computer and each other in pairs. As you look at my blog, it is broken down into manageable, user friendly parts that the children get used to very quickly. They actually ask to do their rotations when they have free time!!!

What I needed to be careful of

My computers are only TOOLS and i had to be very aware that Lc 10 was not just playing on computers. I needed the children to still be talking and communicating rather than an individual sittingon the computer. Since i only have ten computers and 28 children, i needed to be organised and would have to set rules so that turns are taken and that children worked together in groups to successfully finish a task within the given time frame.

What you will see in the blog

Throughout the year i have made continued improvement and added new sections when the need has arised. I have even added new online worksheet section last week (TERM 4!!) The sections are purely rotation activities and are not designed for the children to be doing all day at school in place of their learning. My rotation activites were designed to keep children engadeged when they are now with me learning new material. However the rotations have been very strong in strengthening what we have learnt in a group situation. You will see.............

Maths Maintenance - Material for strengthening what was learnt the week before or during

Maths problem of the day - Series of problems each day to extend children from easy to hard. Enough to cater for the most in need to the most capable

Digital Maths worksheets - These sheets are catered for knowledge activities that underpin their strategy thinking - 3 per week

Reading Comprehension - Reading activity plus questions. In audio for those who want to listen instead of read. I give them the option

Writing Task - A writing task each week that adds a little writing fun into the program. Kids love these.

Game of the Week - A problem solving game each week that focusses on thinking or maths. definately not an arcade game where you just run and jump!!!!

Knowledge activities - These links are for individuals that require assistence in a particular area. I subscribe these site individually in their home learning and maths rotations.

Main Page - Three students in my classroom are responsible for writing what is happening in the classroom. Kind of like my class blog editor
